Lisa O’Sullivan Carroll has 20 years of non-profit management experience, as well as
experience running both a history and children’s discovery museum.
She is a self-described “History and Museum Nerd.” She has a passion for building experiential
learning opportunities into museum visits for patrons and loves exhibit development, and event
planning.
Lisa grew up immersed in the Milwaukee (WI) Art Museum and Milwaukee (WI) Public Museum
where her mother was an actively involved volunteer.
She and her husband enjoy hiking, camping, travel, reading, music, anything related to their
heritage…Irish, and above all else Zeus, their Percheron horse, and their kids and grandchild.
Born and raised in Moline, Illinois, the oldest of 6 siblings. Graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. When daughters were teen-agers went back to school at Loma Linda University and graduated with a Masters in Public Health. Lived for 40 years in Lake Isabella, California, and was employed for 36 years at the Kern County Department of Public Health, starting as a district nurse in the Kern River Valley area. Then went on to a supervisor of the section of the county located mainly on the Mojave Desert side. For the last 5 years was the assistant director of nursing and based in Bakersfield. One of my daughters lives in Northglenn, Colorado and is a probation officer for the State of Colorado. The other is a nurse practitioner and lives in McCall, Idaho, with her husband and 2 girls—the oldest will graduate from high school this school year, and the other will graduate in 2026. Have been in Estes Park since November 2013. My passions are gardening—inside and outside, reading, knitting, observing the wildlife, and being an Iowa Hawkeye!
As a native of Colorado, I have always enjoyed our history. I was able to teach local
history to third graders for many years as an elementary school teacher. From
teaching, I went into museum work to be able to share even more. I was the director of
the McCarty-Fickle Home in Berthoud, CO for several years before starting an archive
room for the Stanley Hotel. Next, I became curator at Timberlane Farm Museum in
Loveland for over five years. Wanting to cultivate a love of history in children, I continue
to teach a fun summer program at a one-room schoolhouse for the Loveland Museum.
Another way I enjoy sharing history is through reenacting. Included in my list of
characters that I portray are Mary Elitch, an early female pastor, a first pioneer settler
and Flora Stanley.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring other museums and
reading.
Danny joined the Historic Stanley Home Foundation Board in 2020, and has been the President of the Foundation Board since December 2023 because he wants to help ensure that the board is successful in preserving the history of Estes Park. Danny has a Ph.D. in Agronomy (Weed Science) and has had a successful career with both Bayer and Monsanto, specializing in Project Management, Technology Sales Support, and licensing technology to companies and growers. Danny has crop expertise in cotton, soybeans, rice, wheat, alfalfa, sugar beets, and corn. His love of agronomy started early as Danny grew up on a farm in Southwest Nebraska where his family raised cattle, wheat, and corn. Danny moved to Estes Park in 2016 with his wife, Judy, and they both quickly fell in love with the town. Danny has served on the Estes Park Newcomers board as the president and VP of Programs, and he worked on the Capital Campaign for Our Lady of the Mountains.
Randy is one of the original Board members of the Historic Stanley Home Foundation since 2016. Randy worked as an engineer and operations manager for Archer Daniels Midland Company for 41 years. He was the Corporate VP of Corn Processing Operations worldwide at the time of his retirement in 2015. He and his wife Patty had a vacation home in Estes Park since 2008 and then built their retirement home in 2015. He has served on many community and church boards in various leadership roles. Currently he works part-time for Kinley Built. He is the Treasurer of the Rockwood Estates POA.
Tom was the founder of the Historic Stanley Home Foundation in 2016. He served as Treasurer for five years and was instrumental in turning his vision of the Stanleys’ summer home into a museum to preserve the Stanleys’ legacy.
Tom practiced as a CPA in both Colorado and Nebraska. He also served over 20 years as the Vice President and CFO of the Lincoln, Nebraska YMCA Association. He and his wife Jan owned their home in Estes Park for 18 years and resided here full-time for 8 years. In 2021 they relocated back to Lincoln Nebraska to be near family. Tom has served on the Boards of the EPNRC, Newcomers, Stanley Hills HOA and was the Council President of Mt Calvary Lutheran. We are delighted that Tom has returned to the Foundation to serve as our Treasurer.
Mary Ann worked as a technical writer for a consulting firm in Boston until that was enough of that and she began writing about science research for the National Park Service, including 17 summers in Yellowstone. In 2013, during her first and last gig in Rocky Mountain National Park,
she decided to officially retire and make her year-round home in Estes Park. She has been volunteering for the Stanley Home Museum since 2017 when she moved next door to Tom and Jan Shamburg. She also helps out as a hospice volunteer for Estes Park Health, the secretary of her HOA board, and on the advisory committee for Mrs. Walsh’s Garden.
David Batey has been a member of the Historic Stanley Home Foundation Board since April of 2022, and was President of the Foundation Board from December 2022 to December 2023. Before retiring and moving to Estes Park 12 years ago, David was Epidemiologist/Advisor in ExxonMobil’s Global Medical Department. David has been Chair of the Estes Park Health Board of Directors since 2018 and has been an elected member of that Board since 2017. He is also a member of the Estes Park Trail Gazette Editorial Board.
David has also served on the following Boards: Chair, Estes Park Committee, Community Foundation of Northern Colorado; President, Meadowdale Hills Property Owners Association Board; Chair, Estes Park Development Corporation Competitive Broadband Committee; Chair, Estes Park Economic Development Corporation Strategic Planning Committee, Chair, Estes Valley Community Center Campaign Committee; Chair, Estes Park SB-152 Broadband Campaign Committee; Chair, Estes Park One Percent Sales Tax Campaign Committee; Member, Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center Board; Member, Estes Park Ambassadors Board.
Anne was one of the original Historic Stanley Home Foundation board members and served for three years. She has now rejoined the board and looks forward to participating in the preservation of the Stanley Home Museum.
Anne had a career in veterinary medical research at a USDA facility in Iowa and with Pfizer Animal Health in Nebraska. Following that, she sold scientific and laboratory equipment for twenty years in Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska. She and her husband, Doug, are both native Iowans and became permanent Estes Park residents in 2014. Anne also serves on the Estes Valley Library Friends and Foundation board, works for the Rocky Mountain Conservancy, and is a member of Chapter HF, P.E.O.
A new member of the SHM starting 2024. I became a full-time resident of
Estes Park in March 2018. Member of Estes Park Rotary since 2012 serving
in various capacities including Club President in 2021 and Chair (Big Duck) of
the Rotary Estes Park Duck Race (which supports the Estes Valley non-
profits, including the SHM); I repeated as Big Duck in 2023 (this Duck Race
raised over $190,000.00 for the non-profits). Director of the Estes Park
Health Foundation for six years, timing out in 2023 as chair of the Personnel
Committee and member of the Gifts Committee; with Marianne, we belong
to the Estes Park Health Legacy Society. Member/Elder of Presbyterian
Community Church of Estes Park since 2020.
I grew up mostly in Mexico City, Mexico from infancy to 1966 moving to
Coral Gables, Florida that year. I graduated from Vanderbilt University,
followed by Cumberland Law School, served in the U. S. Army Signal Corps,
and then began the practice of law as a Florida trial lawyer in January 1975.
I was promoted to partner at my first Miami firm in 1979 with an “av” rating
from my peers, was hired by Squire, Sanders, et al (a Cleveland firm with a
Miami office) in 1984 and started Solms & Associates in 1987. Areas of trial
expertise in State and Federal Courts: malpractice defense of doctors,
hospitals, and lawyers, railroad company liability defense (eg., Florida East
Coast Railway Co. and CSX Transportation), estate planning/ probate/
guardianships (this included starting a 501(c)(3) Foundation), and
employment law. The last 3 years of my practice I worked exclusively for
Chubb Insurance Group in the employment law and Title VII (Civil Rights
Act) areas in Federal courts from a “virtual” law office which also allowed for
travel while also practicing this specialty. We became avid RV travelers for
10 years during which time I retired in 2014 from the practice of law.
Laura’s tenure on the Stanley Home Museum board began in January, 2024. She and her husband moved to Estes Park in September of 2020, although her family has had a house in the area since the mid-1940’s. She spent many summers in Estes Park as a child and later as an adult, bringing her own children to her ‘happy place’.
Laura and her husband moved from Memphis, TN, where she was the head of the early childhood division of St. Mary’s Episcopal School. She taught first grade for over ten years and ran the St. Mary’s summer reading program for struggling readers. Prior to entering the education field, Laura was a graphic designer. She ran the graphic design division of a national publishing company and worked as a freelance designer for many years. Laura has served on many school, community, and church boards in various roles and is looking forward to serving the Stanley Home Museum.
